This season Ashbourne Town Darts League have chosen the Tania Moore Memorial Fund for our chosen charity.

Stella Moore has accepted our invitation to present the awards at the Finals and Presentation Evening on Friday 21st May 2010 at  the Empire, Ashbourne.

The Tania Moore Memorial Fund is dedicated to the memory of promisingyoung horse woman Tania Moore from Derbyshire who was stalked and murdered in 2004 when she was only 26 years old.

Tania's two main loves were horses and children and the inspiration behind the Fund was to combine these two loves in to something worthwhile and lasting.

The Fund now provides the opportunity for children from Derbyshire, especially inner city areas, ?disadvantaged? backgrounds and socially excluded youngsters, including fostered children and those who have suffered abuse, to look after ponies and horses and to learn to ride. It provides the funding for them to have riding lessons in a safe, caring environment. So far Tania's Fund has provided hundreds of riding lessons for these children.

But looking after horses and horse riding lessons are not cheap and the Fund is tirelessly looking for new ways of fund raising. We rely totally on support from members of the public and every single penny is spent on children who really need it. Every one involved in the Fund works as a volunteer and no money is spent on admin, meaning you can rest assured that the money you donate or raise will make a disadvantaged child smile.

Whilst Tania was alive she was dedicated to teaching children and young people to ride and in her job as a riding instructor, working at the very top of her profession, she was able to bring a great deal of joy to a lot of people. She would be so proud that, through the Fund, that legacy continues.

Ashbourne Town Darts League  covers an area within a ten mile radius of Ashbourne.

 Teams consist of a minimum of six players, sixteen maximum, and can be mixed. League Matches consist of six singles, 501, straight start, double finish; and three doubles, 701,double start, double finish and commence at 9.00 pm.

Matches are played on Wednesday and the 2009/2010 season will run from the 9th September 2009 through to 24th March 2010. Competitions are then held weekly until the finals night in May.

The following competitions are held each season: Divisional Cup for each division, Jennings League Cup, Mens and Ladies Singles, Mens and Ladies Doubles and Mixed Doubles and the Ladies Plate (Blind Pairs). 

There are also three charity competitions, proceeds go to a nominated local charity, these are the Mixed Trebles, George Wibberley Mens Challenge Cup and the Rocky Challenge Cup for the Ladies.
